Pancake Breakfast

Hey everyone!! This Sunday, the 20th, my team is having a pancake breakfast for Fathers day to raise money for our trip to Africa. We will be serving food from 7:30-1 pm and tickets are $5 each or $20 a family. You can purchase your ticket that morning or contact me if you would like to get them earlier. So please come and enjoy some pancakes and fellowship this sunday!! Thanks again everyone! :)

I have been given an opportunity to go to Africa with Shelter Cove to serve alongside a ministry called Agape Children’s Ministry, located in Kenya, in a city called Kisumu.

Agape was started in 1993 and has been helping abandoned boys that are living in the streets. This ministry takes these boys in and feeds them, clothes them, gives them medical care, but most importantly shares the gospel and the love of Jesus Christ with them. The reason they take boys in is because in Kisumu, most of the time the parents will keep the girls in the family because they may one day be worth a dowry when they are married however the boys are often kicked out because they are just another mouth to feed. There have been boys found as young as three years old wondering on there own. Sadly many of them turn to sniffing glue to numb there minds from the hunger, fear, and loneliness that they face everyday. This eventually causes brain damage. Agape has stepped in and provided love and care for these boys. In this organization they also offer school classes and have training for other life skills like motor vehicle mechanics, carpentry, masonry, and agriculture.

I have not been given the specific details on exactly what our team is going to be doing but we will be serving the Agape ministry in any way they need us to. Some of the men will be doing construction work on their facility (i.e. plumbing, electrical, etc.). We will have a medical team with us, and others will be conducting a VBS for the Agape boys with games and worship. Our team wants to be there to bring encouragement and lift a weight off of the hard working, incredibly busy lives of the staff and leadership that live there. Our primary focus though, will be to spend our time and interaction with the children.

Even though this is a huge stretch of faith for me I feel like the Lord has really put it on my heart to go on this trip and where He leads I want to faithfully follow. During the preparation for this trip and while I am gone I would truly appreciate your prayers.

Here are some of the logistics of the trip
  • The trip is from Oct. 2nd through October 16th
  • We will arrive in Kisumu on Oct. 5th and leave there on Oct. 14th
  • The cost for this trip will be approximately 3500.00

If the Lord lays it on your heart to help financially support my outreach to Africa, for a tax deduction, please make your check payable to Shelter Cove, with my name and Africa in the memo line. Send to this address.
